These Dreams

Blogophilia Week 37.8 Topic:  Dreams of Long Ago

"Ever since I was four years old, I loved making people smile, making them think, making them feel good, feel some kind of emotion."

Ann-Margret

"The critics had an image of me, and they wouldn't accept any other...I was a cartoon character. A joke."

Ann-Margret

As she was doing some research, Mandy realized she just might have a few things in common with Ann-Margret.

She always had a way of making people smile.  People thought Mandy was a smart and pretty little girl.  But that's the only image they have of her.  Nothing more.  She was not able to grow.  She became a joke over the year....She still is.  These dreams...

Dreams of long ago.  Mandy once dreamed she'd be someone.  She can't even get noticed, so how the heck can she be someone?

Mandy was giving up on Facebook.  She was giving up on something.

No one cared about what she posted.  They only care to tag her in their posts.  No one cared what Mandy ever had to say, but she was expected to care about what everyone else has to say.

OK...she gets it.

Last Sunday, Mandy signed off on FB.  Not that anyone noticed.  And she only went back on earlier that day because her husband posted a video he wanted her to see.

Mandy feels she doesn't belong here.  She feels she belongs somewhere beyond time and space.

I rarely tag anyone in my posts. If they want to read, follow the link. But, I understand what you are saying. I try to figure out who I haven't heard from for a while and go look them up.

I do the same thing. I'm just too observant. I guess I'll always be an observer.

Ah, social media is a double-edged sword. It can be a very frustrating experience, but never give up and never stop writing. It is a cathartic thing... and besides, this Martian would miss you! Hang in there. Oh, and 8 points, Earthling!

What do you mean you signed off? I haven't been on here much due to a health issue. Hope all is well with you. ((hugs))

I'm not on here as much as I would like to be, so when I post, I don't expect a lot of visitors. I mostly write because I want to, and because I want my points. LoL!!! So sorry I haven't been around to read your posts. I'll try to do better. :)

I just haven't felt like being on. I thought about deleting my profile numerous times now. No one will notice anyway. But I just decided to sign out. I got rid of the app and I have no desire to log back in.

It's not that I want anyone to read my posts. I write for me these days. The prompts were the only reason I have stayed on FB this whole time. And by people noticing, I meant my so called friends I grew up with, those I work with, and family. They've been a major disappointment as of late.

I have been off facebook a lot lately due to personal issues and now I am dealing with sickness, Personally, I do not care if people choose NOT miss me.... as far as tagging that has become such an issue with facebook notes , just don't do it much anymore

Finding where you belong can be like tilting at windmills, damn frustrating.

That's not an issue for me...the tagging part. I was just rather surprised that that was all there was as far as notifications. Sorry you've not been well. Hope all is good again!

Yeah, it's funny but I think I'm more in contact with my online friends than I am with friends in real life. I know. Go figure!!! LOL!!! I always enjoy reading your poetry and stories. (((Huggs!!!))) -Leta

I always love reading your pieces and glad to see you when I'm on Facebook. I'm on sporadically but so thankful to have met such wonderful people even if I really don't post much myself.

Same here. I don't know what I'd do without them! :)
